April is National Poetry Month. Join four local poets for readings from their latest collections. RSVPs encouraged but not required.

Sharon Chmielarz, Duet in the Little Blue Church and Speaking in Riddles. Chmielarz writes about life on the Great Plains, inner lives and the Plain's beauties. 

Stan Kusunoki, Natural Life: A Poetic Field Guide, writings about nature, wildlife, geography and of course, Homo Sapiens; and Social Studies: Poetry as History, Ethics and Journalism, recent observations that cover roughly the time between Philando Castille's murder and the Jan. 6 insurrection

Sagira Shahid, How Dare We! Write: A Multicultural Creative Writing Discourse, an anthology of essays and exercises from writers of color and LGBTQIA+ writers that challenge mainstream publishing and academia

Marg Walker, So Surprisingly Light the Small Suitcase of Certainty, a collection of poems that trace the hard-earned movement away from inherited beliefs and youthful certainties, toward insight and acceptance of change and the personal growth it demands
