Offline Club: “One Alley Summer,” with Author Anne Ylvisaker
Wednesdays this summer are for kids, grades 3–7, who could use less screen time and more “analog” activities in their lives. Local authors and artists will lead these low-key weekly gatherings in our Ugly Church Basement. No cell phones, no iPads, no laptops. Just good old-fashioned book discussions, read-alouds, board games, journaling, crafts and more. Advanced registration required.

Tiny Tots Storytime
Thursday mornings are for tiny tot book lovers. Bring you wee ones to Big Hill Books for Storytime with our talented Friends of Big Hill Books volunteer readers. It’s never too early to introduce children to books. Local children’s author Melanie Heuiser Hill and other volunteers lead our Tiny Tots Thursday Storytime program.

Big Hill Books Book Club
This month’s book club pick is The Good Samaritan. Local Author Toni Halleen will lead this discussion about a man barely holding on in the disaster his life has become. Can he find redemption when he makes a dangerous choice to save a life on the side of the road?

First Friday Date Night
On the first Friday of every month, Big Hill Books opens its doors for you and your special someone to drop by for date night and some live music. Consider it a casual, low-key night out for the two of you after a nice dinner or matinee. Bring your partner, your mom, your friend or your dog. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find your next great reads together.

Offline Club: Let’s Make a Scene with local authors Payal Doshi & H.M. Bouwman
A workshop for young writers, taught by middle grade authors HM Bouwman and Payal Doshi, using scenes from their books as inspiration for our own writing projects. Advanced registration required.

Early Readers' Story Time
Bring your early readers of all ages and their friends for some fun, live readings, and activities. Our talented Friends of Big Hill Books will choose selected titles every child will love. This weekly event is a chance for kids to learn to love reading and books.

BHB Romance Book Club
Our new BHB Romance Book Club has launched, and we meet the third Saturday of each month. In August, join us for The Seven Year Slip, by Ashley Poston. Local romance genre enthusiast Maddy Hohenstein leads our newest book club. RSVPs encouraged but not required. Pre-order your copy today.

Open Mic Night
Join us for the fun on the third Saturday of the month for Open Mic Night. Big Hill Books provides the stage, the spotlight, two mics and a speaker. Poetry reading with three local poets

An Abundance of Light
In her new picture book, local author/illustrator Lauren Stringer shares a little-known true story of renowned 20th Century artist Henri Matisse.
